Description

Career Bridge USA is seeking a Temporary Microbiologist for our client in Ames, IA.

Must have experience in Bacteriology.

The qualified microbiologist candidate shall have between 15-20 years of experience with Clostridial agents or a M.S. or Ph.D. degree in this subject matter.

The work to be performed includes:
• Train Bacteriology Laboratory personnel with the production of several Clostridial reagents including toxins, antiserum, and animal challenge work.
• Train Bacteriology Laboratory personnel with the standardization and validation of new references for several Clostridial and other bacterial agents.
• Train Bacteriology personnel on the operation of fermentors.
• Preparation of P. multocida reagents for use in cattle
• Perform host-animal challenge studies for several of these agents in a high containment facility.
• Write the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the production of several toxins such as Tetanus toxin and antitoxins such as Tetanus antitoxins based on their technical expertise of preparing these reagents.
• Write the SOP for the operation of the new 14 liter New Brunswick fermentor and New Brunswick Bioflow 5000 based on their technical expertise of operating one.
• Prepare reagent data packets for the following reagents:
o Clostridium haemolyticum bacterin
o C. tetani toxoid
o C. septicum challenge culture
• Validate guinea pig lethal dose fifty for the following spore challenges:
C. haemolyticum spore preparation
C. sordelli spore preparation
C. chauvoei spore preparation
? Implement (validate the assay and publish it in the Title 9 Code of Federal Regulations) a standard testing requirement for clostridium perfringerns type A toxoid and bacterin.

This highly technical work requires specific skills and experience as well as a thorough familiarity with veterinary biologics regulations, veterinary biologics research and development, veterinary biologics manufacturing, laboratory testing of animal vaccines and diagnostics, and particularly the specific scientific laboratory methods used to develop these testing procedures and reagents. The microbiologist candidate shall have extensive anaerobic as well as aerobic bacterial technical knowledge to be able to initiate the work on the afore-mentioned projects from day one and shall be able to function at a high level capacity without additional training.

Flexible schedule – Between 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., to be negotiated.
Up to five days per week, 8 hours per day, up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
40 hours per week are not guaranteed
Weekends and Federal Holidays are not included
Overtime is not authorized
