(INTRODUCTION)

This book is not just a cookbook, but a collection of memories that will help you to get better acquainted with my family and our way of life.

Within this book are some of my favorite recipes that have been served on my table since my husband and I married in 1920. There are a few old recipes shared from the days when I had to stand on an old wooden crate just to reach the top of the stove while I watched my mama cook.

When I married Ray Cash on August 18, 1920, I had to learn to make biscuits, cornbread, beans, potatoes and that good strong black coffee that my new husband liked so much.

Other recipes were passed down and developed during the following years while seven little Cashes came along. When they were old enough, I also taught them to cook. They are all good cooks today and I have even included some of their favorites as well as my husband, Ray.

I hope you will cherish these recipes and memories as much as I have.
